The 1998 year group of Benkum Senior High School Old Student Association (BOSA) has commissioned a mechanised borehole for the school to address water challenges facing the school.
The project is among some special initiatives by the year group to commemorate its 25th anniversary.
The GH¢27,000 water facility will serve the over 3,000 student population in the school.
The President of BOSA 1998, Irene Jones-Nelson said the project is a symbol of appreciation to their alma mater for the role it played in the development of their lives.
According to her, in spite of a number of projects the group wanted to undertake, it decided to begin with the provision of water which, according to them, is a basic necessity.
She said "water is life and giving back a mechanised borehole is like giving life back to the school, the student and staff it will serve."

"It was refreshing and fulfilling to have completed the project to the glory of God and the members of the year group who have given their resources through a series of contributions across the world," she stated.
She also called on the members of BOSA 1998 to never relent in supporting the school whenever the need arises.
Esther Akoto who stood in for the headmaster of the school, Enoch Asimeng-Ampofo, expressed appreciation to the BOSA 1998 year group for their swift response to the water crisis affecting students and staff.
"The water crisis has been one of the main challenges affecting the school and students especially. This has negatively impacted the academic work of students in general.
"Students spend ungodly hours and productive hours they are supposed to be resting or studying in search for water," she said.
She added that with the school's dependence on Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) for water supply, staff, students and the school's kitchen face trouble when the GWCL is unable to supply water through their pipes for their daily chores.
The water facility the group has donated to the school is to fill the gaps left behind by the GWCL.
