The management of Kpando Senior High School and the Evangelical Presbyterian (E.P) Church have taken the initiative to curb immorality among students.
The school has constructed a residential facility and established a counseling unit to ensure the moral and spiritual upbringing of the students during their stay on campus.
Recent reports suggest Senior High Schools are gradually becoming breeding grounds for immorality. Substance abuse, alcoholism, sexuality, and radicalism are a few of the immoral acts widely spreading among students.
These acts play a significant role in jeopardising the future of students who are unguarded and find themselves engaging in them.
In an attempt to curb immorality, authorities at Kpando Senior High with support from the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana have intensified measures to ensure moral upbringing.
A dedicated Champlain unit and an official pastor’s residence have been constructed to house the campus chaplain and provide religious guidance to students and the school community.
The Chaplain of Kpando SHS, Rev. Mawuli Dzah, acknowledged the rise of immorality and said he would work with stakeholders to expose the students to the effects of engaging in such acts in the future.
“I will continue with counseling for our students and also invite other resource persons like psychologists, doctors, prison officers, and other security services to come on board to give talks to as when it will be necessary for the students to give them exposure to the effects of living wayward lives and the serious implications on their lives”, he said.
The Moderator of the E.P Church, Rt Rev. Lt. Colonel Bliss Divine Kofi Agbeko (rtd), lauded the initiative, adding it has become imperative for schools to make moral upbringing a core of the training given to students.
He entreated other institutions affiliated with the E.P. Church to emulate the same.
