A former Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale Central, Inusah Fuseini, has stated that individuals who hold dual citizenship often bring valuable skills, diverse experiences, and international perspectives that can greatly benefit Ghana's development.
Speaking on PM Express, he emphasised the importance of revisiting the constitutional provisions that restrict some categories of Ghanaians from holding public office after acquiring citizenship in another country.

“Precisely because of the experience and skills that they would bring on board in helping us deal with the canker of corruption, and so I think that it has been a long time coming, but we are finally here."
Fellow in Public Law and Justice at CDD-Ghana, Prof. Stephen Asare, urged Ghanaians to reject the misconception that dual citizens are inherently disloyal and unfit to hold public office.
He pointed out that, globally, there has not been a single instance of a dual citizen betraying their country.
Prof Asare emphasised that in Ghana, those accused of betraying the country have typically been citizens who hold only Ghanaian citizenship.
“Sometimes, we let imaginary fears drive us into doing something drastic. In my opinion, we should never speculate about someone’s intention, and based on that speculation, punish them because we suspect they may do something.”.
Speaking on the same programme, Executive Director of ACEPA, Dr Rashid Draman, remarked that the restriction on dual citizens from occupying public office in Ghana has already resulted in the country missing out on valuable talent that could have made significant contributions to national development.
He suggested that this situation could serve as a lesson for Ghana, highlighting the importance of bipartisan cooperation and unity.
