Some international flights from Accra to other destinations have been affected today, Friday, July 19.
This comes after several airlines were hit by disruptions to their software that aid flights and operations.
The development has affected the Microsoft-based computers of these airlines. United Airlines for instance in a statement says the development has affected some of its flights.
The Airline notified its customers in Ghana that a third-party software outage impacted computer systems worldwide, including United Airlines.
“We are resuming some flights but expect schedule disruptions to continue throughout Friday. We have issued a waiver to make it easier for customers to change their travel plans via United.com or the United app”, the statement said.
In addition, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) has alerted travellers that the disruption is out of the control of airline companies, as measures are being put in place to resolve the situation.
“Air transport is among the many industries affected by today’s worldwide IT issues with Microsoft and Crowdstrike. We sympathize with travellers who face disruption because of these issues which are outside of airlines’ control, and we thank travellers for their patience while Microsoft and Crowdstrike deploy solutions”, IATA said.
