Ghanaian swimmer Harry Stacey says he would be looking to build on from his performance at the 2024 Olympic Games after making his debut.

Harry took to the pool on Tuesday morning as he finished seventh in Heat 4 with a time of 51.12s in the men's 100m freestyle event.

His position also saw him miss out on a position in the final while also swimming slower than his personal best of 50.57s, achieved at the Africa Aquatics Swimming Championship.

The 24-year-old's outing was Ghana's first appearance in Paris.

Being at the Games for the first time, Harry believes the performance in France would be a learning curve for him.

"It's been learning experience after learning experience. I am actually building blocks to the future, hoping to come back for the next Olympics," he said after his event.

"I have learnt a lot already so just looking forward to the next four years [and] training hard."

Next up for Ghana is Joselle Mensah, who will participate in swimming on August 3.

Before that, Rose Yeboah will compete in the preliminary round of the high jump.
