Contributions to the redevelopment of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) have not been encouraging, according to the Chairman of the Heal Komfo Anokye project, Sammy Adu Boakye.
He says that by the close of the year, the team had aimed to complete Block A so people could see the fruits of their contributions.
However, the funds needed to handle the project have not been forthcoming.
Speaking on JoyNews’ The Pulse on August 2, he said the constant depreciation of the cedi was also a contributory factor to the delay.
Mr Boakye explained that prices of items kept escalating, which was making it difficult.

He stressed that KATH caters to many individuals, hence its redevelopment must be a collective effort.
“Our regional hospital is just a 120 bed capacity, until the new ones come up, every pressure is on Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. It is very strategic in the healthcare sector and it needs the high level of attention to be able to give proper health care to people,” he said.

So far, he said a few churches, a few Members of Parliament, and a few Muslims have contributed.
Meanwhile, Mr Boakye appealed to the general public to contribute towards the project to bridge the healthcare gaps.
