The West African Postgraduate College of Environmental Health (WAPCEH) Ghana Chapter has elected eight new executives to serve a two-year term from September 2024 to September 2026.
The election took place during the college's annual conference held in Lomé, Togo, from September 8-14, 2024.
The executives are; Michael Affordofe as elected National President and also as Vice-President at the West African Regional level.
Other elected include National Secretary General and Registrar Kweku Quansah, National Treasurer Florence S. Kuukyi and Emmanuel Gmanab as the National Organiser and Public Relations Officer.
The rest are Northern Ghana Coordinator Donatus Dogonaa Yieri with Henry Adipah, Dr Stephen Ntow and Isaac Newton serving as Members of Council of Patrons.
This was contained in a press release signed by newly elected president Michael Affordofe.
The conference was themed "The Connection of Environmental Health, Global Health and Determinants for a Healthy Population in the ECOWAS Region."
The event also saw the induction of two Ghanaian Environmental Health Professionals, Florence S. Kuukyi as the Director of Public Health of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, and Emmanuel K. Gmanab as President of the Ghana Environmental Health Officers Association (GEHOA)
Honorary awards were conferred on three outstanding personalities who have promoted environmental health in West Africa.

The newly elected President, Michael Affordofe, thanked the Fellows for their confidence and called for support to increase the visibility of WAPCEH Ghana Chapter both locally and internationally.
WAPCEH, founded in 2015, aims to produce world-class Environmental Health Specialists and is supervised by the West African Health Organization (WAHO).
Environmental Health Practitioners with postgraduate qualifications were encouraged to join the college for specialisation opportunities.
