The Electoral Commission (EC) on Monday declared John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as the winner of Ghana's 2024 presidential election.
According to EC Chairperson and Returning Officer Jean Mensa, Mr. Mahama garnered 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55% of the total valid votes cast.

His closest contender, Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, secured 4,657,304 votes, representing 41.61%.
Following the announcement, the president-elect addressed party members and supporters at his Cantonments office, expressing his gratitude to Ghanaians for entrusting him and the NDC with the nation's leadership.

The premises were filled with jubilation as supporters danced and celebrated Mr. Mahama's victory.
