Oliver Barker-Vormawor's lawyer says the youth activist's bribery allegation against members of the Appointments Committee on social media is not directed at Parliament's Appointment Committee.
Speaking during their appearance before the committee to answer questions on the allegation, the counsel said, "It is not directed at the Appointment Committee in any way. It was completely not directed at the Appointment Committee; it is only intended to expose certain matters," he added.
On Friday, January 24, Mr Barker-Vormawor posted on his Facebook account, accusing the committee of taking money from various ministerial nominees before approving them.
The activist was summoned to appear before the Parliament’s Appointments Committee to substantiate his allegations that the committee had been demanding money from ministerial nominees in exchange for their approval.
This followed the committee becoming aware of the post on Tuesday, January 28.
Shortly after the issuance of the invitation, the youth activist responded on his social media account, X, confirming that he would appear at the committee to answer questions.
