Activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor has been summoned to appear before Parliament’s Appointments Committee to substantiate allegations that the committee has been demanding money from ministerial nominees in exchange for their approval.
The development follows claims made by the activist, which have been strongly refuted by the committee.

The Chairman of the Appointments Committee, Bernard Ahiafor, dismissed the accusations on Tuesday, January 28, stating categorically that neither he nor any members of the committee had engaged in such practices.

He described the allegations as baseless and called for evidence to support them.
To address the matter, Chairman Ahiafor has instructed the Clerk of the Committee to formally invite Mr Barker-Vormawor to appear before the committee.
He is expected to present evidence to back his claims during the scheduled meeting on Wednesday, January 29.
“So, I am therefore directing the Clerk to the Committee to invite him to appear before the committee tomorrow [Wednesday] to substantiate his claims, or we will apply the necessary law,” Mr Ahiafor stated.
He emphasised the importance of maintaining the integrity of the Appointments Committee and its processes.
Some members of the Appointments Committee in the minority NPP have called for the suspension of vetting until the accuser appears before the Committee to respond to the allegations.
