FIFA , on Friday, January 31, completed its Financial Governance Workshop which was held in Accra.
The three-day training programme brought together 10 English-speaking Member Associations on the African continent.
The General Secretary and Chief Financial Officers of countries including; Cape Verde, Liberia, Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Sudan, Gambia, Kenya and Sierra Leone were all in attendance.
The workshop aimed to improve financial governance in football, covering key topics such as financial management, accountability, transparency, and efficient resource use within football organizations.
Effective resource allocation and management, best practices in financial management aligned with FIFA’s standards and strategies for improving financial transparency and accountability were among some of the topics discussed at the workshop.
Head of Financial Governance Programme at FIFA, Christoph Suppiger, lauded the Ghana Football Association for making room for the event as he emphasised FIFA’s commitment to conducting similar seminars to promote financial independence among its members.
"I’m delighted with the workshop’s success,” Suppiger said.
"I hope participants gained valuable insights into achieving transparency and accountability in financial management."
Former Ghana international Abedi Pele was present at closing ceremony of the workshop.
