Ghanaian musician based in the United States of America, Jasmine.T, has expressed her concerns about President Donald Trump's deportation policy, which promises to return millions of immigrants to their home countries.
In an interview with Doreen Avio on Daybreak Hitz, Jasmine.T stated that the next four years will be tough for immigrants, with many feeling scared, worried, and separated from their families.
“I’ll be honest, it's tough right now. It’s really tough for a lot people. A lot of immigrants are on the alert. They are scared, they’re worried about their families. I feel like the next four years it’s gonna be really hard for a lot of us. People that are trying to go back to school, cost of schools are going to be higher, families are gonna be separated, it’s gonna be hard, I’m not gonna lie,” she said.
Jasmine.T's comments come as Trump's administration has authorized Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to target sensitive locations like schools, churches, playgrounds, and daycare centers for deportations. This move has sparked fear among African migrants and other immigrant communities.
Born to Ghanaian parents who migrated to the United States in the 90s, Jasmine is well bred in the African culture. She started school at Monroe College and is currently pursuing her degree in Business.
Since she began her musical journey in 2018 with the her debut R&B single, ‘Lonely’, she has been working hard to break boundaries with his music.
The eclectic nature of her identity and her sound stems from her experience with growing up in various neighborhoods of the Bronx, including an uptown area predominantly home to Caribbean communities.
She combines elements of urban New York life with the vibrant rhythms of West African and Caribbean music.
Her single, ‘Sexy 23’, is testament to her versatility and the knack for creativity. She fuses the sensual grooves of R&B with the infectious energy of dancehall on the song.
Her sound is a reflection of her life experiences, offering an authentic musical experience that celebrates her heritage while staying true to her roots in the Bronx.
Jasmine.T is blessed with other songs such as ‘Heat’, ‘You Knew’, ‘Ride’, ‘Pressure’, ‘Deserve’ and ‘No BS’ remix.
