Nana Kwame Wiredu Amoako is currently fighting for his life against Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML), a severe form of cancer. He is receiving treatment in India, but the cost of his medical care has become overwhelming for his family.
Nana Kwame was first diagnosed with AML in 2014 at the Paediatric Oncology Unit of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) after experiencing fever and bone pain. He underwent chemotherapy and was later referred to Parklands Hospital in South Africa for additional treatment, where he went into remission for a while. Unfortunately, in November 2023, he relapsed and now urgently requires a second bone marrow transplant along with further treatment.

His medical team at Apollo Cancer Centre in India has outlined a treatment plan that includes a bone marrow assessment with minimal residual disease (MRD) testing, a second haematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT), intensive chemotherapy, and post-transplant care.
The total cost for this life-saving treatment is estimated at $65,350, which covers pre-transplant investigations, the family haplo bone marrow transplant, chemotherapy, accommodation, flights for three people, and medical documentation.
Nana Kwame’s family urgently needs financial assistance to continue his treatment. Every donation helps ease the burden and brings him one step closer to recovery.
