The Korean Foundation for International Healthcare has financed the construction and equipping of a Biomedical Engineering Unit in Ho in the Volta Region.
The facility would contribute to enhancing clinical engineering, medical equipment management, and getting staff abreast with the latest technologies being deployed in the health sector.
It would serve as a training workshop for medical engineers, students, and general practitioners to make them efficient in using advanced medical equipment.
A similar facility is being constructed in the Greater Accra Region under the Biomedical Engineering Project of KOFIH.
The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh underscored the significant roles the Biomedical Engineering Project would play in advancing healthcare delivery in Ghana.
“By providing these resources, the BME Project is not only advancing the technical proficiency of healthcare services in both regions but also contributing to improving healthcare outcomes through better-equipped healthcare systems in Ghana”, he said.

The Korean Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Park Kyongsig, reaffirmed his country’s commitment to contributing to the development of Ghana.
“This year, as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of KOFIH's presence in Ghana, we reaffirm our
commitment supporting Ghana's healthcare system and strengthening our collaborative efforts for sustainable health solutions”, he said.
He added that Ghana would receive about $32 million to support its development agenda in all sectors in 2025, with one-third of it focusing on healthcare.
“This year my government's total budget of aid to Ghana is $32 million. A one-third of the budget will go to the healthcare service”, he said.
