Basake Holy Stars continued their impressive home form with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over relegation-threatened Legon Cities at the Ampain AAK II Sports Arena on Sunday, April 20, 2025.
Issah Yakubu's second-half strike proved to be the decisive factor in the match, marking the third consecutive home win for Abdul Gazale's side.
The victory extends Basake Holy Stars' unbeaten home run, solidifying their position as the seventh-best home side in the league.
With 36 points, they remain 12th in the league standings, having scored 30 goals and conceded 30.
Their home advantage has been a significant factor in their success, with eight wins in their home matches.
On the other hand, Legon Cities' woes continue to mount. Despite their spirited performance, they remain entrenched in the relegation zone at 17th with 25 points from 28 matches.
Their recent form has been dismal, managing just one win in their last seven league matches. The Royals have struggled defensively, conceding a league-high 37 goals while scoring only 21.
Their away record is even more alarming, with them being the only team in the league yet to register a single win on the road this season.
The Royals will look to turn their fortunes around when they host Heart of Lions in their next match.
Meanwhile, Basake Holy Stars will travel to Samartex, seeking to build on their momentum and climb further up the league table.
