The first edition of the Easter Horse Racing Festival came to an exciting close at Laboma Beach on Monday.
The three-day event, which kicked off on Saturday, April 19, featured over 40 jockeys who thrilled hundreds of fans with fast-paced action and impressive skill.
For the first time ever, horse racing took over the sands of Laboma Beach, delivering breathtaking moments and unforgettable excitement for the hundreds of fans who witnessed the spectacle right by the ocean.
President of the Horse Racing Association, Mohammed Jarrah, expressed his satisfaction with the success of the event:
“I’m very impressed with the turnout. I’m happy.
“Fans should expect more of these. We’re planning to organize them every Sunday, so we’ll sit down, plan properly, and announce the dates once everything is finalized," he said.
Marketing Manager of Laboma Beach Carl Kumedzina also shared a similar sentiment, stating that the beach resort is open to hosting more horse racing events to help grow the sport.
“The three days have been thrilling. The adrenaline of the races was something we were looking forward to — and we enjoyed every bit. Laboma Beach Resort is committed to continuing this event to support local horsemen. It’s been a success, and I look forward to future editions.”
Prizes were also presented to winners across the various race divisions to recognise their skill, effort and contribution to the success of the festival.
