A 52-year-old steel bender, accused of inflicting multiple machete wounds on a carpenter over an alleged girlfriend snatching, has been remanded into police custody.
Kojo Senagbe pleaded not guilty to causing unlawful harm.
The court, presided over by Mr. Kwabena Obiri Yeboah, adjourned the case to June 6, 2025, for the prosecution to file disclosures before trial begins.
The prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Belinda Asante, identified the complainant as Oliver Zinto.
She said both Zinto and Senagbe reside in Community 14 Annexe, Lashibi.
On May 10, 2025, at about 2230 hours, while walking home, Zinto. was suddenly confronted by the Senagbe, who ordered him to stop.
Suspecting ill intent, Zinto ignored him and continued walking.
The prosecution said Senagbe then attacked Zinto, slashed his scalp, left ear, arm, and back with a machete.
Sensing his life was in danger, Zinto mustered courage, overpowered Senagbe, and seized the machete.
Zinto, bleeding profusely, was rescued and given first aid, while Senagbe fled the scene.
A report was lodged at Klagon Police Station, and Zinto received a medical form for treatment, which was returned to the police.
On May 12, 2025, police apprehended Senagbe , who, in his caution statement before an independent witness, admitted to the offence.
The prosecution said Senagbe told the Police that he attacked Zinto because he had “taken over” his girlfriend.
The machete was retrieved during investigations.
