President John Mahama has reiterated his commitment to completing the Eastern Corridor Road project as part of his government's ambitious Big Push infrastructure agenda.
The pledge was made on Friday, 13th June, during a courtesy call by the Overlord of Dagbon, His Royal Majesty Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II, at the Presidency.
The Eastern Corridor Road is a critical national asset designed to improve connectivity between the Northern regions and the capital, Accra.
He emphasised that under his renewed mandate, his government is poised to resume work on the remaining portions of the road, which have experienced significant delays, largely attributed to changes in government and inconsistent funding.
"We are also under the Big Push, going to complete the remaining segment of the Eastern corridor road project," he said.
"Three areas will receive particular attention, from Damango to Nkwanta, and from Nkwanta to Dodi-Pepepsu, and also from Nakpandori to Kulungugu," he added.
The Eastern Corridor Road project, one of Ghana’s most strategically important road networks, begins at Tema in the Greater Accra Region and traverses the Eastern, Volta, Oti, and Northern Regions.
When completed, it is expected to serve as a key economic corridor, reducing travel time, boosting trade, and facilitating the movement of goods and services between the south and north.
