Former Ghanaian British basketball star, Matthew Bryan-Amaning, is urging the Ghana Basketball Federation to take the right steps to advance the sport in the country.
Bryan-Amaning, who featured in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) for Senegalese side AS Douanes during his 12-year professional career, commended Spintex Knights for making history as the first Ghanaian team to reach the Elite 16 stage of the BAL qualifiers.
In an interview with CitiSports, he called on the leadership of the sport in Ghana, stressing the need for structural improvements.
“I think it is having the right people involved that’s going to help; get things on the right track, sorting out everything that’s got to do with the Basketball Federation, so the talent is there, it’s just about obviously having the Federation wanting to get things on the right path," he said.
The retired forward emphasised that Ghana’s basketball potential can only be realised if the Federation addresses long-standing issues and commits to proper development.
