Asante Kotoko Chairman, Edmund Awuah Asafu-Adjaye, also known as Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awuah, has described the club’s upcoming participation in the 2025 Toyota Cup in South Africa as a valuable opportunity and a step towards strengthening African football ties.
The Porcupine Warriors will face South Africa Premier League side, Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Moses Mabhida Stadium, in Durban.
"It is with great joy and anticipation that we come to South Africa for the 2025 edition of the Toyota Cup,” Nana Apinkra said.
He emphasised the broader significance of the event, stating, “Football has always been a powerful bridge between people and nations, and this event shows what is possible when sport is supported by vision and purpose.”

He commended the efforts of the organisers, noting, “We are proud to be part of this celebration of African unity and commend Toyota and Kaizer Chiefs for setting the standard for what African football can be.”
Looking ahead to the fixture, he added, “This is a big opportunity for us. We look forward to the trip and the game.”
The Toyota Cup, which will be held at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, will also feature appearances from former football stars including Jabu Mahlangu and Delron Buckley.
In addition to the football action, fans who purchase tickets for the match will have the chance to win a brand-new Toyota Starlet.
Tickets for the event will go on sale from 26 June 2025.
