WeComm Agri-Media & Consultancy has introduced INSPIRE by WeComm, a hands-on learning programme designed to give participants direct exposure to various stages of Ghana’s agricultural value chain, from production to processing.
The initiative, developed in collaboration with Newage Agric Solutions Limited and Evivi Foods, seeks to address gaps in understanding and engagement with agribusiness among young people and professionals. Misconceptions and limited access to practical experiences continue to discourage wider participation in the sector, despite its importance to Ghana’s economy, food security, and job creation.
INSPIRE will be delivered in structured sessions or 'cohorts' at Newage Agric Solutions’ factory site in Seletso. Participants will gain exposure to farming and agro-processing operations, including field visits and facility tours.
Team Lead at WeComm, Genevieve Quainoo, said the programme aims to challenge outdated perceptions of agriculture and provide realistic insights into the sector's opportunities and constraints.
“The goal is to narrow the gap between interest and participation in agribusiness,” Quainoo stated. “Participants will engage with active entrepreneurs, observe sustainable farming practices, and see how raw produce like rice and maize are processed for the market.”
She noted that the sessions will target a mix of students, professionals, and individuals interested in agriculture, offering them direct interaction with agribusiness operators to better understand the sector’s practical realities.
INSPIRE also intends to provide a platform for experienced players in agriculture to share lessons and approaches with emerging actors in the space.
