The Ghana Agriculture and Rural Development Journalists Association (GARDJA), has expressed their deepest condolences over the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight gallant men in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.
The deceased were traveling to Obuasi for an event aimed at ending illegal small-scale mining when the helicopter they were aboard crashed into the Dampia Range Forest Reserve near Sikaman Brofoyedru in the Adansi Akrofuom district of the Ashanti Region.
In a statement, the GARDJA its deepest commiserations as it highlighted the gallant efforts of the eight in contributing their quota to national development.
“This devastating loss is felt deeply within our community, as we understand and report daily on the selfless work that many undertake to protect Ghana’s natural resources, support rural livelihoods, and advance sustainable development,” portions of the statement read.
The statement continued that: “Some of the individuals aboard the helicopter were reportedly engaged in duties critical to national interests in these very areas, serving quietly but powerfully to defend our forests, lands, and rural stability”.
The group noted the tragic loss is a painful reminder of ongoing efforts to protect our environment and support vulnerable farming and rural communities.
“Their commitment reminds us of the immense sacrifices made in the service of causes that often go unrecognised but are vital to our shared future,” they noted.
The Journalists have pledged to honour the memory of the deceased by continuing to shine a light on the importance of environmental issues and amplifying the stories of those who dedicate their lives to Ghana’s environmental and rural development.
