The Ministry of Defence has announced that the board set up to investigate the August 6 Z-9 military helicopter crash has officially commenced its work.
In a statement issued on Monday, August 25, the Ministry said the board is chaired by the National Security Coordinator, with members drawn from the Ghana Air Force and the Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation and Prevention Bureau of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).

The United States Air Force is also providing technical advice and assistance through visiting investigators. The Ministry noted that the board may invite other local and international experts to support the process.
The announcement recalled that a preliminary investigation team was constituted on the day of the crash to gather evidence, with its report scheduled to be submitted to the board today.
The Defence Ministry emphasised that the board has been given a 30-day mandate to complete its work and submit its findings.
The Z-9 helicopter crash, which occurred on August 6, claimed the lives of several senior government officials, sparking widespread national mourning and calls for a thorough probe into the incident.
