Director of Communications at Asante Kotoko, Sarfo Duku, has opened up on the discomfort experienced by the team upon their arrival in Lagos, Nigeria, ahead of the second leg in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round against Kwara United.

Kotoko arrived on Friday in Lagos and travelled by road to Abeokuta, the venue for Sunday’s game.

The team had to rest after a two-hour journey and is preparing for the game, with a schedule including training and a technical meeting later on Saturday evening.

Speaking to Luv FM, Sarfo Duku complained about the bus conditions, affecting player adjustment.

“It was a 45-minute flight from Accra to Lagos, and by the time we landed at the Lagos airport, officials of Kwara had arranged for buses to convey us to Abeokuta, even though they were not the best looking at the type of comfortable arrangements we made for them in Accra.

“We expected that they were going to reciprocate that. Unfortunately, the buses that we provided for us were quite old and even without air conditioners, and we had to take it like that. We are using our own buses now.”

He added, “Some of our tall players were finding it difficult to adjust because of the size of the bus and how close the seats were; it was terrible.”

Kotoko have a slim lead after the first leg, a 4-3 win over Nigerian side Kwara United in the preliminary round last Sunday. Progress for the Porcupines would set up a second preliminary round clash with Moroccan heavyweights Wydad Casablanca.
