Police in Yeji, Bono East Region, have arrested a man identified as Hans Osei, popularly known as Mulla, for allegedly practising as a medical doctor without formal training for more than a decade.
According to Adom News’ Daniel Tachie, the suspect was picked up on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Yeji Zongo, where he had been running his operations.
Investigations revealed that Mulla operated from a rented, dilapidated chamber-and-hall apartment, which he converted into a clinic with three beds.
Residents told Adom News he was once known locally as a footballer who played for Yeji Elfs during their time in the Premier League.
For over 11 years, he reportedly provided medical services to unsuspecting members of the community.
He administered injections, set up drips, and offered treatment to patients, only referring them to a hospital when their condition was beyond his capacity.
During interrogation, the suspect allegedly admitted to the police that he had no formal training from any recognised medical school but had been treating patients regardless.
Police say investigations are ongoing, and the suspect will face charges for impersonation and unlawful medical practice.
