Anti-corruption campaigner has praised the Attorney General for what he described as a thorough and commendable investigation into the alleged financial crimes involving former Chief Executive Officer of the National Food and Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO), Abdul-Wahab Hannan Aludiba.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Top Story on Wednesday, October 22, Mr. Vitus Azeem said he was particularly impressed by the depth and precision of the investigation, which led to the uncovering of several high-value assets allegedly acquired through illicit means.
“My first impression, I have a very good impression about the type of investigation that was done, it was so impressive. The way they were able to identify all these assets and their locations, it is surprising that a government institution can carry out such detailed investigations and uncover all these things.”
He, however, noted that while the findings were commendable, the Attorney General now faces the critical task of proving the allegations in court, adding that "the accused will definitely come out to deny the charges, so the Attorney-General has a very big task ahead.”
Mr. Azeem also expressed disappointment that individuals entrusted with managing state institutions continue to allegedly divert public funds for personal gain.

“It is painful that people are siphoning state resources into their personal pockets. These assets were acquired in individual names — not in the name of any political party — and that makes it even more disheartening,” he said.
His comments follow revelations by Dr. Ayine at the Government Accountability Series held at the Jubilee House, where the Attorney-General detailed how the former NAFCO boss allegedly used proceeds from financial crimes to purchase multiple luxury properties in Accra and Tamale, including:
- A five-bedroom house at Chain Homes valued at $1.625 million
- A three-bedroom house at Cantonments worth $600,000
- Plots at Airport Development estimated at $750,000
- A 17-bedroom boutique hotel at Gumani, Tamale valued at $250,000
- A four-bedroom bungalow at Dzorwulu worth GH₵ 4.1 million
- 0.32-acre government land bought for GH₵ 307,200
Dr. Ayine further revealed that EOCO investigations found Mr. Hannan and his wife to be the largest depositors at Republic Bank’s Labone branch, with a GH₵10 million fixed deposit and a collection of luxury items — including 61 designer bags and watches worth up to GH₵1.5 million each — all of which have been frozen.
