Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, an aspirant in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.
In a heartfelt message, the former Minister for Education and current Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe described the late Mrs Rawlings as a towering figure in Ghana’s history whose contributions to national development and women empowerment remain indelible.
He noted that Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings’s life was marked by an enduring commitment to public service and the advancement of women’s rights.
Through her leadership in the 31st December Women’s Movement, she championed several initiatives that improved the social and economic well-being of women across the country.
Dr Adutwum said her efforts not only broke barriers for women in leadership but also laid the foundation for future generations to thrive.
Reflecting on her legacy, Dr Adutwum stated that Nana Konadu’s name would forever occupy a distinguished place in Ghana’s democratic and social history.
According to him, her resilience, courage, and love for the nation served as an inspiration to many, particularly those who strive to contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s progress.
He extended his heartfelt condolences to the Rawlings family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by her remarkable journey.
Dr Adutwum urged Ghanaians to honour her memory by upholding the values she stood for — service, compassion, and dedication to the common good.
“May her soul rest in peace,” Dr Adutwum concluded, adding that Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings’s passing marks the end of an era but her legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
