Ghanaian politician, entrepreneur and innovator Baba Sadiq has stressed the need for the Creative Arts Agency to take charge of providing credible data for the country’s creative industry.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z with Kwame Dadzie, Baba Sadiq said data plays a crucial role in shaping policy and guiding corporate decisions within the creative sector.
He made the remarks while discussing the record-breaking turnout at Shatta Wale’s ShattaFest 2025, which drew an estimated crowd of over 400,000 fans to the Black Star Square on 18th October 2025.
When asked whether the Creative Arts Agency should be responsible for gathering and publishing figures from major events such as Shatta Wale’s birthday concerts, Baba Sadiq responded affirmatively.
“It’s inherent in their mandate to lead research and advocacy for industry so I don’t know what they are doing. Once it’s inherent in their mandate, they are supposed to,” he stated.
The Creative Arts Agency was established in 2021 to develop and promote the creative sector, lead policy research, support capacity building, advocate for industry growth, and coordinate data-driven initiatives that enhance the global competitiveness of Ghana’s creative economy.
