President John Mahama has described former United States Vice President Dick Cheney as an outstanding statesman and a distinguished public servant.
The former US Vice President died on November 3, at the age of 84.
In a tribute signed on behalf of the Government and People of Ghana by Mr Emmanuel Victor Smith, Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, President Mahama said the United States had lost a remarkable leader who played a pivotal role in key moments of modern history that continue to shape global affairs.
He extended Ghana’s deepest condolences to the Cheney family and the American people and reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening the longstanding partnership between the two nations.
The President added that former Vice President Cheney’s legacy of service would be remembered with great respect and admiration.
