Ghana full-back Samuel Inkoom would sit out of action for the next three weeks in the Swiss League due to injury.
The defender was pulled out of Basel's league match on Sunday with FC Aarau because of an ankle injury.
Sunday's game was Inkoom's second start for Basel in the Swiss top flight since his move from Asante Kotoko this season.
But after 68 minutes, the 19 year-old Ghanaian was substituted.
Club doctors have meanwhile ruled out surgery for Inkoom's recuperation.
