Police have achieved a breakthrough in the investigation of a brazen robbery at the Juaso District Forestry Services Division office, announcing the arrest of the alleged leader of a gang that made off with vehicles, chainsaws, and cash.
The incident, which saw approximately 30 men storm the government office on Monday, December 1, 2025, has led to the provisional charging and subsequent remand of the suspected ringleader.
According to a statement issued by the Ashanti Regional Police Command on Thursday, December 4, the large group of intruders, armed with knives, entered the Forestry office while the Forestry Rapid Response Team—a unit responsible for monitoring duties—was absent.
The armed men allegedly forced staff members to surrender their mobile phones before proceeding to ransack several offices.
The haul taken by the group included significant assets and private cash:
- Two chainsaw machines.
- One tricycle.
- Two KIA trucks.
- Nine thousand Ghana cedis (GH₵9,000) belonging to a staff member.
The Police Command stated that officers mounted an immediate pursuit soon after the robbery was reported. This rapid action led to the apprehension of the gang’s alleged leader, identified as Mr. Prince Agyapong, and the crucial recovery of the two stolen KIA trucks.
The recovered vehicles were transported to the Juaso District Police Headquarters to be used as exhibits in support of the ongoing investigation.
Mr. Agyapong has since been arraigned before the Agogo District Court on a provisional charge of robbery and has been remanded into police custody. He is scheduled to reappear in court on December 15, 2025.
Police officials confirmed that efforts are aggressively underway to locate and arrest the remaining suspects involved in the daylight raid.
They are also working to retrieve the outstanding stolen items, which include the two chainsaw machines, the tricycle, and the GH₵9,000 in cash.
