The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested 13 suspects in a coordinated intelligence-led operation across three locations in the Senya Beraku enclave of the Central Region, as part of efforts to clamp down on criminal activities.
The operation, carried out on Tuesday, December 17, 2025, began at Kukwado, a coastal community, where police arrested six suspects. The individuals were found in possession of substances suspected to be Indian hemp and other related items.

The team then moved to a yellow house near a cemetery within the enclave, where four suspects, including a female, were arrested.
Items retrieved from the location included dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, locally distilled gin known as 'akpeteshie' (locally called laka), a 32-inch television set, and assorted brands of cigarettes.

At the third location, Awiaso, police arrested three more suspects, including a female. A search at the site led to the recovery of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, a toy gun, shisha, local gin, and a game pot. The hideout used by the suspects was subsequently set ablaze by the police team.
In total, the 13 suspects arrested include Michael Essel (23), Frederick Koranteng (23), James Essel (24), Jones Koranteng (20), Daniel Essibu (30), Kofi Abbiw (28), Kofi Essibu (57), Klotey Poree (26), Bismark Sarbeng (26), Kojo Otoo (24), Thomas Quartey (22), Gladys Jackson (19), and Florence Adenue (25).

Police say all suspects and the exhibits retrieved during the operation are currently in custody and assisting with investigations.
The Central East Regional Police Command has reiterated its commitment to intensifying intelligence-led operations to curb criminal activities and ensure the safety of residents in the region.
