Mobile telecommunications giant MTN Ghana has put smiles on the faces of 70 mothers who recently gave birth at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi by distributing hampers filled with essential baby products.

The gesture included 13 mothers who delivered on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, December 25 and 26, making the festive season even more memorable for them and their newborns.

Speaking during the presentation, Area Sales Manager for Ashanti, Bono Ahafo and Bono East, Obed Adu-Amankwaah, said the initiative forms part of MTN’s annual Christmas outreach, which saw 700 baby hampers distributed nationwide to mothers who gave birth during the festive period.

Some of the mothers who delivered on Christmas Day described the experience as a special blessing, saying it was a joy to share the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ with their babies. While some recounted the day as hectic due to several mothers sharing the same theatre, others said the moment was unforgettable.

In keeping with tradition, a number of the mothers revealed they had begun naming their babies Yaw and Yaa Bronya, as well as Kofi and Afia Bronya, to reflect their Christmas and Boxing Day births.

The mothers expressed gratitude to MTN for the timely support, noting that the donation has eased the burden of caring for their newborns and added to the joy of the season.
