The Upper West Regional Branch of Zoomlion Ghana Limited has carried out a large-scale disinfestation exercise across the region to reduce the population of disease-transmitting vectors during the festive season.

The exercise, which ran from December 9 to 22, 2025, targeted public toilets, communal garbage sites, refuse dumping areas, as well as educational and health institutions across all eleven districts.
Ayamga Anabire Ezekiel, the Upper West Regional Vector Control Officer, said the initiative was carried out with support from the municipal and district assemblies.
“Other places which could potentially harbour houseflies, mosquitoes, and other disease-transmitting vectors were also disinfested during the exercise,” he explained.
He added that the effort aimed to prevent outbreaks of cholera, diarrhoea, dysentery, and other vector-related diseases, noting that environmentally friendly insecticides were used to safeguard public health.
In addition to the spraying activities, Zoomlion embarked on intensive community sensitisation campaigns to educate residents on proper sanitation practices.
The awareness drive sought to empower the public to maintain clean environments and minimise the risk of sanitation-related illnesses.
