Black Stars midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana has completed a move to Cagliari on loan for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.
The Ghanaian midfielder sealed the return to his former club before the close of the January transfer window, as he seeks regular playing time.
Sulemana endured a difficult spell at Bologna following his permanent move from Atalanta last summer, struggling to secure minutes in the first team.
The 22-year-old attracted interest from several Serie A sides, including Genoa, Sassuolo and Cagliari, but opted for a return to Sardinia, where he previously enjoyed a productive stint.
The move is seen as a strategic step as Sulemana looks to revive his club form and strengthen his chances of earning a place in Ghana’s squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
During the 2023/24 season, Sulemana made 24 appearances for Cagliari, scoring two goals, before earning a move to Atalanta in 2024.
Cagliari have initiated contacts with both Bologna and Atalanta over a possible loan move for Ibrahim Sulemana.

The 21-year old has struggled for regular minutes after joining Bologna on loan late in the window, with the deal including an €11m option to buy.

He managed just four appearances for Bologna this season, prompting a loan exit in search of consistent game time.
Cagliari are expected to officially announce the deal in the coming days.
