Incumbent First Vice Chairman of the NPP-USA Branch, James Owusu, has officially declared his candidacy for Branch Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) USA, positioning his bid as a call to service and a mission to unite and empower members.
With more than two decades of involvement in the party, Mr Owusu brings a long record of grassroots and executive experience to the contest.
He has served as TESCON P.R.O, Branch Youth Organiser, and Chapter Chairman of Cincinnati.
He says these roles have prepared him with the leadership skills and institutional knowledge needed to steer the branch at a critical time.
His campaign is anchored on financial sustainability, digital transformation, strategic partnerships, youth and women’s empowerment, and accountability.
He has pledged to rebuild trust, deepen transparency, and restore what he describes as the spirit of togetherness within the branch.
“The greatest strength of our party is not in titles or positions, but in the bond of brotherhood and sisterhood that unites us,” Mr Owusu said.
“I have witnessed the sacrifices of our members, and it is for these patriots that I stand today.”
His declaration comes as the NPP reorganises following its recent presidential primaries, in which Dr Mahamudu Bawumia emerged victorious.
With the party shifting focus to strengthening its structures ahead of the next electoral cycle, the NPP-USA branch is expected to play a key role in mobilisation and support.
The upcoming election for Branch Chairman is anticipated to be keenly contested. Mr Owusu’s supporters believe his experience, institutional memory, and reform agenda give him a strong edge.
They argue that his emphasis on accountability and inclusion could help reposition the branch for greater impact.
His candidacy has already generated enthusiasm among sections of the membership, with many praising his dedication and long-standing service to the party.
Observers say his campaign could energise the base and attract renewed engagement, particularly among young professionals and women within the diaspora wing.
The NPP-USA branch remains a vital part of the party’s global network, serving as a key platform for advocacy, fundraising, and international outreach.
Mr Owusu believes strengthening its internal systems and expanding its partnerships will enhance its relevance and effectiveness.
His manifesto, expected to be unveiled in the coming days, will outline detailed plans for growth and operational reforms.
Central themes are expected to include sustainable financing models, modernised communication systems, and structured mentorship opportunities for emerging leaders.
As members prepare to elect new leadership, Mr Owusu’s message centres on unity, collective effort, and renewed purpose.
His campaign frames the moment as an opportunity to consolidate gains, rebuild trust, and chart a stronger path forward for the NPP-USA branch.
