The Islamic Republic of Iran has maintained that it will deliver a "lawful and decisive" response to the United States and the "Zionist regime" following the confirmed martyrdom of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
In a press release on Monday, March 2, issued by the Iranian Ambassador to Ghana, Ali Ghomshi, Tehran described the early Saturday morning offensive as a "cowardly assassination" and a flagrant violation of international law.
The Ambassador warned that the strikes, which reportedly targeted the country’s highest-ranking official during the holy month of Ramadan, have pushed regional stability into a "historic test".
Ambassador Ghomshi revealed harrowing details of the military operation, alleging that the aggression extended far beyond political targets. According to the Embassy, the "joint military aggression" involved the deliberate bombing of civilian infrastructure, including hospitals, Red Crescent facilities, and schools.
The most tragic incident reported was an attack on the Minab girls' school, which the Ambassador stated resulted in the martyrdom of over 150 young children.
“This brutal aggression... transcends mere military action and constitutes a textbook example of a full-scale war crime,” the statement read, noting that the strikes occurred on the eve of Nowruz.
The Islamic Republic has invoked its inherent right to legitimate self-defence under the United Nations Charter, specifically citing the violation of Article 2, Paragraph 4. The Ambassador issued a stern ultimatum to neighbouring countries, demanding they remain neutral in the escalating conflict.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran... expects regional third parties to strictly refrain from offering their airspace and logistical facilities to the aggressors,” Ghomshi cautioned, adding that defending national sovereignty is an “inviolable red line”.
The press release paid extensive tribute to the late Ayatollah Khamenei, describing his decades of leadership as a "symbol of resistance against expansionism" and a "herald of independence". Despite the loss, the Ambassador insisted that the "solid legal institutions" of the state would ensure there is no power vacuum or hesitation in pursuing the ideals of the Revolution.
Tehran has urged the United Nations, Islamic nations, and the Non-Aligned Movement to take a transparent stance against what it termed "state terrorism".
The Ambassador warned that indifference to this "gross violation of sovereignty" would be seen as a "green light" for the total collapse of international norms.
The statement concluded with a reaffirmation of Iranian resilience, noting that the "pure blood" of the martyred leader would only serve to "nourish the robust tree of Iran's independence".
“Relying on unparalleled internal cohesion... the Islamic Republic of Iran will deliver a fitting, decisive, and lawful response to this blatant aggression,” the Ambassador declared.
