St. Monica’s SHS has secured qualification to the One-Eighth Stage of the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) after edging Amenfiman SHS in a closely fought contest at the SMS Auditorium.
St. Monica’s finished with 40 points, just three points ahead of Amenfiman SHS, who ended on 37 points. Tema Methodist Day SHS placed third with 15 points.
St. Monica’s announced their intentions from the very first round, taking an early lead with 12 points, ahead of Amenfiman SHS on 17 points and Tema Methodist Day SHS on 8 points.
St. Monica’s responded in Round Two, moving ahead with 21 points, while Amenfiman slipped to 16 points and Tema Methodist Day remained on 8 points.
The Problem of the Day further boosted St. Monica’s, who secured 6 points compared to Amenfiman’s 2, while Tema Methodist Day SHS failed to score.
St. Monica’s then extended their advantage in Round Three with an impressive 27 points, while Amenfiman managed 18 points and Tema Methodist Day SHS added 8 points.

The final True or False round saw St. Monica’s hold on to their lead and finish on 40 points. Amenfiman’s late effort took them to 37 points, while Tema Methodist Day SHS ended on 15 points.
St. Monica’s SHS has now booked their ticket to the One-Eighth Stage, with Amenfiman SHS narrowly missing out after leading the contest at the end of the opening round.
