Five metal containers used for commercial activities were completely destroyed after a fire broke out at Kotobabi Down in the Okaikoi North Municipality, near Antrack Filling Station, on Tuesday, September 1.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said firefighters from the Circle Fire Station responded to the incident after receiving an alert through the Fire Master Control at 4:00am.

The firefighting crew was dispatched at 4:01am and, upon arrival at the scene, found the metal containers engulfed in flames.

Firefighters worked to contain the blaze, bringing it under control at 4:45am before fully extinguishing it at 5:40am.

The GNFS said five metal containers were totally destroyed by the fire, while two adjoining containers were successfully salvaged by the firefighters.

No casualties were recorded in the incident.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, with the GNFS saying investigations are underway to determine what triggered the blaze.

The incident was contained before it could spread to the two adjoining containers and potentially cause further damage to properties in the area.
