This is the most hyped fight involving a Ghanaian all year.
Highly-rated Fredrick Lawson and his opponent Breidis Prescott both weighed 146.2 on Wednesday. Their fight is a 10-round welterweight bout.
Venue is Florida and Lawson faces what is easily the biggest test of his world title credentials.
His opponent is Colombian, a tough 31 year old whose biggest claim to fame is knocking much-hyped Amir Khan in 54 seconds in 2008.
But Lawson, known as General Okunka, is no Amir Khan. Not in style, not in temperament and definitely not in records. Lawson is undefeated in his career.
"I know he's a boxer who is good and has fought some of the big names in the boxing world. Whatever he wants to bring, we are ready for him. We don't [have] any problem and are ready for the fight. It's what we do. We are ready," Lawson told ESPN days ago.
Having won all 23 fights with 20 knockouts, the tough-talking Ghana man knows Prescott is a cut above what he is used to.
"Look, I know Breidis is tough cookie but I am here to get a win. That is that," Lawson said Wednesday.
Prescott (27-6, 20 KOs) has only been stopped once by Mike Alvarado, who was then at his peak in 2011. In fact, he can argue that his other five losses are no disgrace.
Check the list: Miguel Vazquez, Kevin Mitchell, Paul McCloskey, Terence Crawford, and Roberto Garcia, in that order.
And that is why the upcoming 25 year old West African - whose fight tonight will only be his third in the States - keeps giving the Colombian respect. But not too much.
"I believe in myself and I know what I have to do. I listen to my [corner] and it's a team effort. This fight is for us and my people and my victory."
The time for talk is over. It's time to make history for man and country.
