Presidential Spokesperson, Mahama Ayariga has denied media reports that he was hooted at during his visit to the family of a Bawku man gunned down by an unknown assailant.
He said nothing ontoward happened during his visit to the deceased family, insisting he shared his condolences and left peacefully.
Two people were shot dead whiles two sustained serious gun shot wounds, Thursday in the Bawku Municipality in what is said to be an indiscriminate shooting.
Some residents accused the Presidential Spokesperson who was the immediate past MP for the area for the insurgence in the violence.
They say Mr. Ayariga is fueling tension in the area following his rigorous campaigning for the Bawku seat and reportedly hooted at the spokesperson during his visit to the family of the victim.
He is also accused of telling residents that the MP, Adamu Daramani, would be prosecuted and the seat declared vacant, despite an appeal process by the MP to overturn an earlier High Court decision which declared him (Daramani) unfit to run for elections. He was found guilty of holding dual citizenship.
But Mr Ayariga has denied any form of campaigning, insisting that his visit to the deceased family was purely humanitarian and was without controversy.
According to him he shared warm exchanges with the family and left together with some security personnel who accompanied him to the deceased family house.
He said it was after their departure, that he heard reports of some young men beseeching the house of the deceased to accuse a family member for giving audience to him.
