After years of playing on hard, dusty surfaces, Teshie, a local community in Accra is to be the first beneficiary of a grassed pitch.
The community’s gain is as a result of the talent and skills displayed by an Under-12 side representing the area that saw them being crowned as champions of the Street Soccer Africa fiesta, an event that aims at harnessing and developing emerging talents.
Aside lifting the title and taking away products from sponsors, Milo and Voltic, the contributions of Green Grass Technology would be the biggest award that the young ones to deliver back to the community.
The pitch developers are to grow grass at park of the community’s choice. Ghana international, Sulley Muntari donated $1,000 to the Street Soccer Africa Fund.
Teshie swept aside four opponents to become the maiden champions in the event that pitched sixteen Under-12 sides drawn from local communities to play against themselves.
Led on by 11 year-old sensational captain, Manasseh Gyasi, who was the eventual player of the tournament, the young lads from Teshie beat Bukom Stars 3-2 on penalties last Friday after drawing goalless in regulation time.
The competition also saw the various sides feature girls in their sides.
