Officials of the National Youth Employment Programme say 2,500 ghost names have so far been deleted from its register following a headcount.
The headcount was initiated a few months ago by the Mills administration to identify the exact number of people on the programme and also rid the system of ghost names.
It is believed that when complete, the exercise will create room for the recruitment of more people to take up jobs under the program.
Coordinator of the Program, Mr Abuga Pele, disclosed this in an interview with Joy News and hinted another round of recount would be done to ensure government does not waste the tax payer’s money.
"We think that the headcount exercise that we did was not completed. All the coordinators that we have in place would have to do... a second phase of it...and submit reports on the outcome of such exercise," he stressed.
