For the first time in almost two years, Ghana's capital will host a competitive Black Stars match.
Joy Sports sources at the sports ministry say the Afcon 2017 qualifier against Mauritius will be played at the Accra Sports Stadium.
To this end, the ministry is racing against time to fix all outstanding problems in the stadium. This revelation comes on the back of Tuesday's Ghana FA Executive Committee meeting to conclude on a programme for the Black Stars.
The game will be played on Sunday, June 14 as the Black Stars, who are in Group H with Rwanda and Mozambique as well - begin their journey to Gabon.
Other details of the program include a June 1 deadline for Avram Grant to invite the players he will need for the game so preps can begin. Grant has almost completed the squad list and it should be out by the end of next week.
Before the qualifier, Joy Sports understands that the Stars will play Togo in a warm-up friendly in Accra on June 6.
The last time the Stars played a qualifier in Accra was on September 8, 2012 when they beat Malawi 2-0 en route to qualifying for the 2013 Afcon.
The capital city has historically not been a good grounds for the Black Stars, with Kumasi having pride of place due to a seeming better atmosphere it offers the team.
But in the last year, the Garden City has also had a tetchy relationship with the Black Stars in the run to qualify for the last Afcon leading to the GFA's decision to opt for Tamale.
It is not clear when the team will revert to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
