According Manchester United legends Paul Scholes and Gary Neville, the club will need to spend if they want to improve next season, so I take a look at five players that would improve the team next season.
Nicolas Otamendi – Valencia

The Argentine is an established centre-back in La Liga, who has also been named as one of the best defenders in the league this season. He has the knack of scoring important goals and is certainly not scared of landing a few big tackles.
Nathaniel Clyne – Southampton

The right-back has been phenomenal for Southampton this season and his form even got him an England call up. The club desperately needs a right-back and Clyne would be the perfect fit in regard to a long-term solution.
Thomas Muller – Bayern Munich

It’s said that the German and his current manager Pep Guardiola don’t really see eye-to-eye, and this could be a perfect time to try lure him across to Old Trafford. Muller has a real eye for goal and manages to score whenever required.
Bastian Schweinsteiger – Bayern Munich

He might be ageing, but he is still a midfield general and that is exactly what our club is missing at the moment. Michael Carrick has done a great job this season, but we can now see he can’t play week in and week out, as he needs rest. Schweinsteiger could be the perfect replacement for Carrick and he will certainly improve our midfield.
Petr Cech – Chelsea
I know this may seem like a strange one, but I really think Cech would improve us if we are to lose David de Gea to Real Madrid. He is only 33-years-old and that is two years younger than Edwin van der Sar when we signed him. Cech will help stabilise our backline and has plenty European and Premier League experience.
