More organisations and individuals continue to show compassion and goodwill towards victims of the June 3 flood and fire disasters in Accra.

The latest to join the well-wishers is Rlg Foundation, the charity arm of the Rlg Communications Group.

The Foundation has handed over clothing and water to some survivors of the disaster. The Foundation also served hot meal to close to 1000 inhabitants living around Sahara Park which is a distance away from the location of the explosion at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle.

The distribution was assisted by volunteers from Rlg Communications and AGAMS Holdings.

The items distribution which started in orderly manner almost turned chaotic as women, the aged and children scrambled for their share of the items.

Even though they were delighted at the gesture, they called on the state to do more to improve the insanitary conditions in the area.

“Since the incident occurred, I have never slept in a room. I sleep in a makeshift structure.  We really need help”, an aged woman told the media.

The Manager of the Foundation, Mr Malcolm Frazier consoled the disasters survivors and said his outfit was pleased “to contribute its widow’s mite to our brothers and sisters who were fortunate to survive the twin disaster”.

More than 152 people are said to have lost their lives and others gone missing following hours of heavy downpour which also destroyed properties estimated at some millions of cedis.

Government declared 3-days of mourning and ordered measures to prevent the re-occurrence of what has been described as one of the nation’s worst calamities.
