Mauritius came to Ghana with three coaches, all with the title 'head coach'.
The coaching trident proved unable to do much against Ghana, who were too strong in quality for them on Sunday.
The Black Stars walloped their visitors 7-1 in their opening 2017 Afcon qualifier at the Accra Stadium with striking pair Asamoah Gyan and Jordan Ayew grabbing their braces while Christian Atsu, Jeffrey Schlupp and David Accam completing the scorers for Ghana.
Andy Sophie got a 30th minute consolation goal for Mauritius.
“The strength of the Ghanaian team and the experience of their players made the difference today,” Akbra Patel, one of tthe three coaches told reporters at post-match.
“In the first half, we were a bit unsettled. It took us tie to get into the game and the two early goals put us out of the game. It was easy for Ghana after the two [quick] goals.
“If the score is a big one then I think it is because of the difference of the two team today,” Patel ended.</p>
The other two coaches were Alain Happe, and Désiré L'Enclume who have taken charge of the islanders following the exit of Didier Six a couple of weeks ago.
For Jonathan Bru, captain of the side, its was simply an issue of quality. “I don’t think we respect too much the players of our opponent,” he said.
“We tried to do our best but this is the difference between us and the Black Stars. That is it.”
Ghana top Group H on goal difference, ahead of Rwanda, who travelled to beat Mozambique 1-0 in Maputo. .
The next day of matches in qualifying are set for September.
