The new Director General of National Communications Authority (NCA), William Tevie, says one of his immediate priorities is to work on modernizing operations of the institution to a world class status.
The immediate boss of the National Information Technology will this morning assume office as the new head of Authority.
He is taking over from Paarock Van Percy who exited from the institution in May after five years of service.
Mr. Tevie told Joy Business he will be bringing his experience from the private and public sector to make the NCA more efficient.
He said he has firm plans to efficiently regulate the telcos operating in the country.
There are currently about six mobile operators in the country offering data and voice service.
However with the growing needs of the about 15 million voice subscribers there are calls for more services to be introduced. Mr. Tevie assures that need will be met soon.
Mr. Tevie has 24 years of experience in progressive ICT management, strategic planning and operations.
Before his appointment at National Information Technology, Mr. Tevie worked as the Deputy Director, Systems and Chief Technical Officer at Network Computer Systems.
He was also the project director for the Ghana Open Data Initiative, Executive Secretary of the IT Association of Ghana and a Board Member of the National Communications Authority.
