Liberty Professionals coach George Lamptey was in buoyant mood after his side’s 3-1 thrashing of Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
The coach believes his side’s victory was no fluke as his side had the antidote to Kotoko on the day. Lamptey was of the view that the game offered little by way of resistance.
“This victory is a cheap one. I have watched Kumasi Asante Kotoko play. In our first round match [against them], they were just lucky,” he told Joy Sports.
“Just like I have been telling you, I have taken my three points here.”
Lamptey went on to further declare his team as favorites for the league title stating his side were one of the best teams in the country currently.
“I know my team, I know my players and their attitude on the pitch. In the corresponding game they played very well.”
“We are one of the teams that is prepared to take this year’s league. If you look at my team [and] the way we play, I have been with my boys for three years now but this year we have played very well and are one of the best in the league.”
The gaffer is one of the longest serving coaches in the league after spending more than three years with the Dansoman side.
Meanwhile...
Liberty's third goal was scored by Alfred Nelson, who has attributed his side's victory to discipline and hard work.
He spoke to Joy Sports: “I believe tactically we were ahead of Kotoko and that is what gave us the victory. Hard work and discipline is the key for Liberty and I believe that is what is paying for us.
“Playing against Kotoko alone is enough motivation for us and serves as a morale booster for Liberty who have young players and always look forward to such games.”
