Asamoah Gyan will be available for Ghana's opening Nations Cup match against Togo despite pulling out of the friendly against Malawi at the final minute.
The Stade Rennes forward who is expected to lead the line had been named in the starting line up for the game and warmed with his team mates before having a word with coach Milovan Rajevac who pulled him out for Dominic Adiyiah.
The player later spent time in the Ghana dressing room before emerging with a strapped thigh.
Gyan has a history with injuries but Milovan Rajevac moved quickly to insist that his withdrawal was only precautionary.
"It is just a precaution as the player complained that he felt small pains. We didn't want to take the risk. Gyan said he felt pain and we figured it was the best thing to leave him out but he will definitely be fine," the Serbian told KickOffGhana.com.
Injuries have destabilised Ghana's bid for another Nations Cup title even though Rajevac won't admit it and he would now be desperate that Gyan who has been in good goal scoring form at club level will stay fit for the tournament.
